Sonia is the Director of the Center for Nonprofit Management & Leadership at Midwestern State University in Wichita Falls, Texas. She was responsible for creating, implementing and now overseeing the Nonprofit Management Minor in the Dillard College of Business Administration and advises students pursuing that degree. Sonia developed the Nonprofit Management Minor courses’ curriculum and content, including the four classes she teaches.

Sonia has over 20 years of professional experience in the nonprofit sector and has worked for multiple large nonprofits in the Dallas-Ft. Worth Metroplex.

Sonia completed her doctorate in Business Management from the University of South Alabama. Her research interests are improvisational capabilities, organizational resilience, and servant leadership in small businesses, including nonprofit enterprises.

In 2019, Sonia White became licensed to offer consulting services for the Standards for Excellence^® program by completing an exclusive professional development initiative that gives independent consultants the knowledge, skills, and tools necessary to work with nonprofit organizations across the country interested in learning about and implementing the Standards for Excellence code. She also received her Certificate in Nonprofit Board Consulting from Board Source in April of 2023. Sonia also received the designation of CNP (Certified Nonprofit Professional) from the Nonprofit Leadership Alliance in July 2025 and the Advanced CNP later that same year.

Marla started her nonprofit career in 2008 with the Nonprofit Center in Wichita Falls and quickly fell in love with the nonprofit sector.  She completed the Association of Fundraising Professionals (AFP) Fundraising Course in 2010 and a Certificate of Nonprofit Management from MSU in 2011.  Marla transitioned to the current Center in January 2019, when it went from a stand-alone nonprofit organization to become part of the MSU/Texas Tech system.  Recently, in 2022, Marla became a Standards for Excellence licensed nonprofit consultant.   She also received her Certificate in Nonprofit Board Consulting from Board Source in April of 2023. Most recently, she received her Certified Nonprofit Professional (CNP) designation in 2025.

Community involvement is very important to Marla.  She is a 2010 graduate of Leadership Wichita Falls and served on their Board of Directors for 6 years as Board Chair, Treasurer, and Program Chair.  She has also served on boards and committees for several other nonprofit organizations and committees, such as Vernon College Foundation, Nonprofit Management Institute,  Empty Bowls, THOR, CASAblanca, and High Heels for Hot Meals.

Myles is a Senior at Midwestern State University pursuing a dual degree in Music Education and Spanish. As a freshman Redwine Presidential Scholar, he fell in love with philanthropy and nonprofit work through Dr. Sonia White’s Honors Nature of Philanthropy seminar course. Apart from his studies, Myles is passionate about sustainability, community service, philosophy, and world politics. He is a delegate for the award-winning MSU Texas Model United Nations team, Co-Chair of the Redwine Honors Fundraising Subcommittee, and Chairperson of the Redwine Honors Program.

In 2024, Myles established the Redwine Honors Sustainability Initiative, which educates students on environmental issues through the Green Talks lecture series and incorporates sustainable practices on Midwestern State University’s campus, including aluminum and plastic recycling. The program was adopted as an official Honors Subcommittee in Spring 2026.

Mason is a Senior at Midwestern State University pursuing a degree in Business Management with a minor in Nonprofit Management with an Entrepreneurial Concentration. He was born and raised in Wichita Falls and is a 2021 graduate of Rider High School. Mason serves as the president of his fraternity, Kappa Sigma. He enjoys giving back to the Wichita Falls Community by volunteering for Faith Mission. Mason started volunteering with Together We Make a Difference in elementary school and has done so for the last 11 years. It continues to be one of his favorite days of the year!

Julliette is a trilingual Junior at Midwestern State University pursuing a degree in Business Analytics. She was born and raised in Ecuador but decided to move to the United States in 2025 to expand her academic and personal horizons and embrace new perspectives. As a Spanish Editor in The Wichitan, Redwine Honors Student and Resident Assistant, she is passionate about community involvement and volunteer activities by continuously serving in the American Red Cross, AccentCare and Step Up Tutoring. 

In the Spring semester she was awarded the 2026 Outstanding Sophomore Woman award and finished her path in the Dillard Success Initiative. When she isn’t analyzing audience metrics or refining editorial strategy, Julliette leverages her background as a marketing strategist to elevate the publication’s overall community engagement.
