The Nonprofit Center provides services through its staff and a select group of volunteers. The following is a list of services:

Board Training

The Center has an array of board training topics for local nonprofit boards. Most topics can be presented in a 45-60 minute time-frame which is ideal for most board meetings. Currently, the Center will provide one free, board training per organization, as availability allows. These free trainings are only eligible to organizations within a 30-mile radius of Wichita Falls.

Additionally, the Center can customize board training to meet the specific needs of your organization. Training that requires customization, trainings longer than 75 minutes, and training site locations further than 30 miles from Wichita Falls may require nominal fees.

On-Demand Coaching and Consulting

The Center for Nonprofit Management & Leadership offers a wide range of consulting services to nonprofits. Examples of past coaching and consulting sessions include succession planning, fundraising development, strategic planning, by-law reviews, IRS revocation, board assessments, executive director or key personnel searches, job descriptions for key personnel, standard operating procedures, establishing internal controls, staff performance evaluations, volunteer recruitment, etc.

Most consulting and coaching appointments are 60-90 minutes, and most are free. If a situation requires more extensive or in-depth coaching or consulting, nominal fees my be charged. If coaching or consulting requires additional expertise, the Center will help with referrals to appropriate resources.

Nonprofit Resource Library

The Center library includes many books of interest to nonprofit organizations. Anyone can come to the library and review its contents. Books are available for limited check-out. The Nonprofit Resource Library is located in the Center office.

The Center also has access to the Foundation Online database to search for foundation and grant information. This search tool is available at no charge to local nonprofits but you must set up an appointment to search the database.

Nonprofit Start-Up Viability and Sustainability

The Center for Nonprofit Management & Leaders offers nonprofit start-up assistance. The Center staff has prepared re an on-demand workshop that walks individuals through the process of starting a nonprofit, from the viability of the idea to identifying existing competitors or others already doing the same work to the sustainability of your idea. The Center provides a checklist and helpful resources that complement the webinars. Once an individual completes the workshop, the Center offers a complimentary 60-90  minute consultation.

Together We Make a Difference (TMAD)

Held annually since 2002 during the month of October, Together We Make a Difference pairs teams of volunteers with work projects submitted by nonprofit organizations. MSU students, local high schools and nonprofits come together for a day of service, with more than 1000 individuals participating.

Professional Development & Training

Nonprofit Board Essentials Workshop & Nonprofit Showcase

The Center offers a three-part, in-person training designed for individuals who have never served on a nonprofit board, or are new to a nonprofit board. This training provides a general overview of the basic responsibilities of board members and the role of the board collectively. The workshops also specifically discusses interpreting financial documents, importance of Form 990s, fundraising and marketing. The workshop culminates with a social event, The Nonprofit Showcase, where local nonprofits recruit board members and volunteers and the public can find out more about local nonprofits.
